High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol

If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. It had been one of those super busy days and we were hungry. My mom, husband, friend, and I decided to stop by Applebee's for supper. I had never been to this location before, It was very nice. There were a lot of choices on the menu and the prices were reasonable. I had an under 550 calories dinner, the savory cedar salmon for $12.99. It came with veggies and steamed potatoes. It was delicious. Mom and my friend shared the special two meals for $24. Mom had the half rack of ribs and said they were very good. My friend enjoyed her steak. My husband had the Roma pepper steak, which he said was delicious. I wish the serving sizes had been a little larger. I was happy to find out that they have two for the price of one drinks. I had two of my favorite Long Island ice teas and my friend had two Bahama Mamas. So refreshing. What added to our enjoyment of our meals was the terrific service, Our server, Corey, went out of his way to be friendly and helpful. We even had the manager stop by our table to see that we had everything we needed.

Worst place ever, they seriously need a new manager. Recently placed an order to go. It's was a Friday night (so it was kinda busy), but it's not an excuse for an order to be sent back couple times. The manager even told me "I know what my daughter will be eating tonight". I was like "seriously!'. While waiting for my new order I even took a peek into the kitchen and it's beyond dirty. Please avoid this place. You will do yourself a favor.

I read the reviews for this applebees before going there. I did not have high hopes for this place, but had a gift card so I figured I would give it a shot. The place was not busy when we went in. We had to wait a while to get service. I was almost ready to walk out of the place. Drinks, food, service all took to long to get. Overall it had to be one of the worst applebees I've been to. The food was alright (that's why it gets 2 stars), but I would never go there again until they fix the service. The menus also need to be updated, to many items have retired stickers over them and it looks unprofessional.

I'm giving 4 stars mainly for service... Tiffany the bartender was just awesome she gets 5 stars. She was very friendly and attentive I'd definitely sit in her section when I return. The atmosphere gets 3 stars... I've learned sitting in the bar doesn't mean you won't be annoyed by noisy children. The bar is poorly situated in the center of the restaurant surrounded by dining booths.... Which is where all the families want to sit. Parents please be courteous if your kids can't behave in a restaurant don't bring them to one and if they play videos/ games to keep occupied please keep the sound appropriate. The food last night started off mediocre the bone in hot wings were dry and our Ceasar salads were completely over dressed. We did the 2/$25 dinner having mac & cheese with chicken & lots of bacon and the steak, both of those were good which made up slightly for the salad & wings. Big plus Happy Hour is 241, 11 to 11 every day and on weekends 1/2 off appetizers!

I've been looking for a local Applebee's for awhile but after eating here last week, I WON'T go back to this one. Went with a party of 3 around 3pm. Place didn't seem too busy and was seated quickly. I should've known things would go down hill after i noticed a manager bring food back to the table next to us. We sat for awhile before the serve got to us. The 2 ladies i was with ordered the 2-1 margaritas (an order each) and since they were ordering from the 2 for $25 menu we got the spinach dip and chip. Eventually we got our drinks and the dips with hardly any chips. They ladies ordered the 7 oz steak medium well and the chicken, i ordered the 9 oz Bourbon Street Steak well done. It sucked that you only get one side order per dish. Got the food and boy was I disappointed. My meal was $15 and some change but the steak I order was smaller then the one my friend got off the 2 for $25 menu (and it wasn't even cooked well done) and the other 2 dishes had a ton more potatoes then i did. After dropping off our food the server became a ninja. She would sneak past our table and not bother checking on us, had to wave her down just to get napkins (she gave us like 4 of them). This was the first time i ate a full meal at Applebee's and was still hungry. The ladies ordered their second round of drinks and we waited about 10-15 minutes before they got them. Don't waste your money here. Better off going to IHOP.

The service was fine/acceptable but the food absolutely sucked. My wife ordered a triple bacon burger medium. The server stated that's there's no medium request it's either pink or no pink.... Uhhhh ok -_- she requested no pink to be safe and received a nearly burnt dry burger with cheese and bacon to cover the burnt. She also received about three ounces of fries, I wish I had a scale. I ordered the margarita chicken and shrimp. Smh. I can't even begin to explain how horrible this dish was. I am a chef in the hotel industry so maybe I'm a bit harsh but I can't believe any culinary institution would serve such trash. The avocado was brown. The mini shrimp, that were cold we're tasteless. The rice was bland and had two melted cheese spots with some beans and corn that sucked. The chicken was actually cooked perfect minus salt and pepper but it's at the table so no worries. I would never visit this property again. I got what I expected.

Came here for the first time in years forgot how it was. Coming in getting greeted by the people in the front got seated fairly quick. Server was nice and attentive. Ordered the two for 20 thing of cheese sticks, ribs and the chicken penne. Got the food and starting eating it wasn't even close to decent, really bland i expected some flavor but nope. Couldn't even finish the entree because it was sooooooo boring. Sadly it makes chili's food taste like heaven in comparison. I would give it one star but the service was there but sadly the flavor in the food wasn't.

I wish I could give this place zero stars. I visited this branch on Wednesday, March 19th at around 11PM. I was served by Hercules (yes, that's his real name). To start, it took about 10-15 minutes just to come to the table and take our drink orders. It took the same amount of time to refill my guest's drink. Not to mention, the waiter's presence had been so scarce, my guest had to flag him down while he was at the other side of the room JUST to get him to refill the drink. What disgusting service. He also didn't check on us after the food was delivered (which also took forever). The entire dining experience took an hour and a half in a pretty much EMPTY restaurant. We didn't even bother complaining to the manager because employees' attitudes are a reflection of management. I will NEVER return to this dreadful place again.

Seven of us went for my mom's birthday lunch. It was not empty but not full. When we walked in we stood & waited while the hostess & waitress were chatting (we could over hear them complaining about work). We waited & finally they asked us how many & told us one moment. Then minutes went by & another person asked us how many & when we said 7 she rolled her eyes. We were finally seated & our waitress was less than enthused. We all had easy orders, no special requests, straight forward orders. She had zero personality. She kept saying our food would be out in 2 seconds, we waited & waited. She brought the food out & one person's wasn't ready, again she said it would be out in "2 seconds" more like 10 minutes. So he sat & watched us all eat. She only brought refills to those on the end of the table near the walkway. Those of us sitting on the inside, never even got asked if we wanted more. The table next to us had a different waitress & I heard her tell them "I will have to bring out your food one at a time as you can see I only have 2 hands". He looked at her & then caught my eye & shrugged. I thought how rude. I went to the bathroom & again 3 more waitress complaining outside the door & 1 inside sitting on the sink on her cell phone. I have been to this location before & never had any issues. We are not easy complainers or overly picky but all of us agreed we received horrible service & witnessed poor service towards others. They were not understaffed either. Management was not doing their job & making everyone do theirs.

I ordered a take out over the phone. When I arrived I gave Kalina the money and I was suppose to receive 9.41 change back but she only gave me 9 dollar. WtF? Just for 41cents she just lost a tip for herself. What a dishonor waitress. I ordered Napa chicken its a grilled chicken w sautéed mushroom n zucchinis but mushrooms n zucchinis were all raw.. Not cooked at all.. Very disappointed.. Never going back to this Applebee's again.

Very slow service for lunch when barely anybody was there.. Ordered 2 salads and waited about 20 minutes.. The quality if the salads was not that great, way too much lettuce and the dressing was way too greasy .. Overall not what it used to be, much lower standards .

They closed our Applebees in Plantation Florida so we drove down to the Applebees in Pembroke Pines . What a mistake !!! The server was nice and polite but had too many tables so we hardly saw him. When we did it was too little too late like bringing the salad dressing after we ate the main course. I dont blame the waiter but Management should get their act together . They have to be losing a fortune in business from people who wont come back . I know I wont

This Applebee's has really went down... Several years back before I move from the area this was my go to spot every week so I'm very familiar with their potential, but since I've started back with them this is the second time I had the same waitress with the same results. Cold Food, Smaller Portions, Slow Service, Sticky Tables, Not so clean looking waitress, Dirty Utensils, the list goes on and on I can't believe this is Applebee's. I will definitely not be returning to this location no time soon or recommending them to my friends.

I ended up here with my family on a Friday night, since Cheesecake Factory had too long of a wait time. Upon entering the restaurant, the atmosphere was muggy and humid. There was a noticeable stench in the air (like grease). We were so hungry we didn't go running for the door...what a mistake that was. We sat down and it took a while for us to get helped. The table and booth were sticky. We finally got around to ordering and I asked for my burger MEDIUM and the server said that there's no such thing as "medium" it's either "pink or no pink". I then proceeded to explain to her that meat always has a temperature, and despite all this she said the system would not let her put it in. HOW RIDICULOUS! After arguing with her, I finally told her to tell the kitchen not to cook it too much. When I received my burger, it was an overcooked, bland mess. Eating this burger evoked feelings of eating a leather shoe. The dessert (the giant cookie with ice cream) came to the table with the ice cream already melted. I don't know HOW this can be called an Applebee's when it is nothing like the other ones I have eaten at. I can safely say I will NEVER be returning here again.

I suggested Applebee's to my dad because he's pretty picky when it comes to restaurants and food in general. Since Applebee's has a little bit of everything one can choose from, he was okay with the idea. I believe is the closest location to anyone living in the Hollywood/Miramar area so it is quite a drive, especially in the rain. Nevertheless we were seated immediately on a Saturday evening. Our server was great and very attentive. I ordered the 4-cheese macaroni & cheese with honey pepper chicken which is my favorite menu item, as well as a strawberry lemonade. My brother had the chicken tenders and fries dinner, and my dad settled for fish n chips. Mozzarella sticks were and appetizer, but they tasted kind of weird unlike other locations I've been to. Though the experience was positive, I give this place 4 stars because we were seated by a window where what seemed to be mosquitoes were located. The last thing I wanted was something to land on my food.

Came to Applebee's for Happy Hour & Appetizers! The two for one was a great deal! My friends and I had plenty of drinks. On the other hand, their appetizers weren't that great. Plus they take a long time to bring them. I ordered the Nachos with Pulled Pork....their was like 3 pieces of meat and burned tortilla chips. They really should stop making churros. They are atrocious! The chocolate is like the syrup you use for milk and it's cold instead of warm. The churros are tiny and taste awful. The sweet chile brisket sliders were good but it only comes with two. I suggest if you are sharing you need several appetizers because they're so small. Don't come with a big party because your friends are going to have to stare at you eat and drink because they take forever to bring the items. On the other hand, the service was good. The manager did stop by to say hi.

Stopped by for a quick bite, I should've known. Major disappointment! I found a piece of debris in my food. The manager tried to make it better to no avail. The replacement meal was unappetizing...Pass this resturant on Pines Blvd and go to Bahama Breeze instead.

I have never been a fan of Applebee's but my friend insisted we go for a change of scenery . We waited for about 15 mins for a table, the hostess was very unfriendly and didn't seem to like her job or the customers . She acted as if we were interrupting her life . Thankfully the very sweet Michael sat us. What a charming young man. Our server Justine came over greeted us with a huge smile and a laugh . She asked us for drinks gave us suggestions asked how our day was going, right there we just knew the trip to Applebees was going to turn around . Our drinks took a bit longer then we anticipated but the bar area and restaurant were full . We ordered 2-4-1, wasn't crazy that they brought both at one time but we managed . Our server had a busy section but she managed to engage every person in her area . I was quiet impressed, she never lost her smile or broke a sweat . When we finally decided on what we wanted to order Justine made a few suggestions on portion sizes likes and dislikes . It is refreshing to have someone speak from a clear non-robot like attitude . Food came it was good for the price and quality . The bathrooms were well kept for such a busy place . I will be back and next time I am ordering the triple chocolate melt down Ambiance is 3 star Food 3 star Service 5 star

Went here before going to see England v Honduras at the Sun Life Stadium. We had a free appetizer (a $10 value) and I ordered the boneless wings which were delicious. My Bourbon Blue Burger and my wife's Chicken Tenders were both really tasty. Food was brought out quickly and was very tasty and service was prompt and friendly. Surprised at the other reviews, we honestly can't fault this place!

Only came here because I had a gift card. We called to ask if they had the Florida Panthers game showing and they said yes but when we arrived they didn't. Wasn't a big deal anyway. There was something about the waitress that didn't seem right. Like she was really good at pretending to like you but secretly hates you lol. That smile they put on. We ordered our drinks (beer, soft drink) and an appetizer. The waitress kept telling us over a 20 minute period that she gave our drink orders to the bar but they haven't made them yet. 20 MINUTES TO POUR A TAP BEER AND A SOFT DRINK. We ate our appetizer and sat there with no drinks. Eventually they managers came our without us requesting them and brought us our drinks and apologized with the wait saying it wasn't right that we waited that long. The female manager brought us our food instead of our waitress and she was really nice and helpful. The waitress did not return until we finished out meals and asked for a check. NOT ONCE DID SHE APOLOGIZE. She acted as if the bar not making our drinks was OUR problem and not HER problem. She got what was left of my gift card. A whopping $1.64. Will not return and do not recommend this place to anyone. Even with a good waiter this place is just meh. I mean, how many people have you seen that got excited to go to Applebees. Seriously.

4/20/15- I have not been to Applebee's in years. Last one I went to was the one near UCF in Orlando. First of, the hostess was very friendly, she sat us down, gave us our menus and told us that Heather would take care of us. Heather was terrific. They get 5 stars. Very attentive and sweet. Now, on to the food which is why I gave them the 1 star. I ordered the salmon dish that was on the "healthier option" and it was disgusting. The salmon was super fishy and oily, the greens that were served were wilted, dry and tasteless. It will definitely be my last trip to this chain. I don't normally do chain restaurants but my friend had a gift card. Note to self: DONT EVER GIVE AN APPLEBEES GIFT CARD!

Drinks specials and food prices is one of the only reasons to come here. The best bartender is Joey, my opinion the worst is Tiffany, no customer skills and a gruff attitude. Just stating facts!!!@

Our server was amazing! She was so nice and really pointed out really awesome things in the menu. The Pretzels are crispy, crunchy and soft inside with a side of melted cheese and honey mustard. Great wings and the endless rib special is pretty cool. 2 - 4 - 1 happy hour everyday all day also is a nice thing to take advantage of.

Service was good,no complaints at all. The food is not very good at all. Had 3 appetizers and two entrees. This food is cafeteria quality. It was like kiddie food. The presentation of the food was awful too. No garnish,no arrangement. The drinks are not really a good deal either. I see people raving about 2 for 1. The beer was $5.50, not expensive but it's a 10 oz mug. So with 2 for 1 you get 20 oz. That's not a deal, that's average price. Spend a couple extra bucks and go to a quality restaurant!!!

About Applebee's

Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.

Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak.
